He’s here! Baby Aubrey has arrived!
Ever since I took Erin & Gary’s maternity photos months ago, I had quietly been counting down the days until their baby boy would make his debut. Erin & Gary make one handsome couple and I could only imagine what their little guy would look like…
I was so excited to meet sweet Aubrey. There were many people anxiously awaiting his arrival in October. I met him at just a couple of weeks old. Aubrey is beyond precious and such a happy little guy. I hardly heard a peep from him during our time together – just the adorable coo’s that accompany time spent with a newborn. I so loved seeing his nursery and photographing this sweet family in baby Aubrey’s first home. So much love and excitement packed in that room and I was so honored to be a part of it all.
E, G & A – Really, truly. I am over the moon for your family! Thank you for inviting me out to your home and giving me a chance to capture you all in your first few weeks as a family. Thanks for letting me hold Aubrey, too! That meant so much. Enjoy your little man over the holidays. What an amazing, beautiful time in your lives.
Happy Monday to you! Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving spent with those who matter most to you. I am over the moon excited to share this family with you.
I was so looking forward to meeting this sweet family. Nan and I had briefly discussed photo locations for this shoot and she suggested we take them at her in-laws home. I’m always up for new scenery and was totally on board. When I first drove up to Tim’s parents home, my jaw dropped a little. His parents live in the most beautiful neighborhood that I’ve grown up down the street from and had never set foot in. I started taking photos of the kids in their front yard and Tim quickly suggested we go out to the back yard for more pictures.
Their back yard?! Well, it was perfect. I envisioned a teeny tiny back yard and when I stepped out back and saw acres of land, a beautiful pond and golden hour light I was so, so happy. I love wide open spaces for kids to roam. When these spaces are secluded and the sun is on the verge of setting, that’s the best.
This family is the kind that just makes your heart happy. Awesome, kind people and so much fun to be around. TJ, Connor and little miss Maryn are about as sweet as it gets. I’ve got to say one of my favorite photos below is one where TJ and Connor are kissing their baby sister from each side. So precious.
T, N, TJ, C & N – Thank you for spending some time with me and letting me in to get to know your family for a short time. I’m so happy to have met you and had the chance to capture your family at this awesome time in your lives. I love my job. You are a reminder of this…
Big bear hugs,
It’s rainy and gloomy outside in Indianapolis but it’s okay because I’ve got my family and they always brighten my days. In particular, a sweet little guy named Noah.
If you’re new here, thank you for taking time to share some of your day with me. It means more than you know. This past May, I became an Aunt for the first time when Noah George Sullivan was born. I was lucky enough to document his birth (and made this video, too) and I say with utmost certainty that 5/19/2011 changed my life – as a photographer and how I see the world but more importantly as a person. I’ll never forget those feelings that came with hearing Noah cry for the first time. It was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced and nothing in the world could have ever prepared me for the love I felt at that moment in time. Seeing the way Noah has cracked opened the hearts of the Sullivan and Sauer family, and every other person who loves this little guy so much, has been amazing to witness. He just turned 6 months on the 19th and my older brother Dave, Makenzie, Ndogg and I found time to squeeze some photos in. Noah gets more lovable by the day. His personality is really started to shine through and to see him smile and giggle is one of the biggest blessings in my life right now. He brightens my world every day.
D, M & N – I love you guys so, so much. It’s hard to believe Noah wasn’t around a year ago. Our lives were so different. Now, I can’t imagine life without him. Noah – you’ve brought our family closer together than we have ever been. I am so grateful for that, little man. Please always remember Auntie Caity loves you to the moon and will always be here for you.
Lots and lots and lots of love,
For my parents..
Who have shown me what it means to lead a giving, love-filled, faithful life.
You are my heart and I am forever thankful for you.
Love you two madly,
I’ve really developed a soft spot for photographing families over the past few months and the Wessel family is no exception.
There’s just something about a family with small kids at this time of the year that is so special. When I showed up at the Wessel home, I was greeted by Leo (the oldest) at the door. Then I saw his bow tie and had a moment. I swear – bow ties just make this world a better place. Tucker, the family pet, came up to greet me and even made it into some of the photos. I was geeking out as I went through these images the first time around and seeing Tucker smiling in his photos, too. Made me smile! : ) Photographing 3 boys is never the same and always an adventure. I love these little guys so much and their parents, Luke & Kelly, are about the nicest you’ll come by.
We took these photos near and around the Wessel home which was wonderful because I so enjoy new scenery. The light was perfect as we wandered through their neighborhood that was painted in golden hour light. I am so thankful for this job. So incredibly thankful.
L, K, L, E & O – I loved meeting each of you. Thank you for inviting me to your home and into your lives to see your hearts for a short time. I hope you guys enjoy the holiday season with Tucker and I look forward watching the boys grow up.
Nothing but love,
So happy to welcome back the Dausman family.
I first met the Dausmans about a year ago now. Tigon contacted me to have photos taken and told me a bit about her family before we met. When I took their photos last fall, Hudson was just a tiny little thing and only months old. He was such a trooper and the girls, Bella and Lilah, are super sweet with Hud. I was lucky enough to also photograph Hudson at 5 months and I loved everything about that shoot. It opened my eyes to the world of photographing babies which is a completely different ball park than any other subject matter. I fell in love with this family so quickly and it’s been so fun to keep in touch over the year!
Almost every other call or email I get for family inquiries comes from Tigon. To that circle of absolutely beautiful families, and you know who you are, I have loved getting to know each of you.
I am so happy that this family is adventurous. I had passed a red barn up north several times on my way to various shoots and always thought that I’d love to photograph a family there some day. The Dausmans tagged along and I couldn’t be more thrilled with the results.
J,T,B,L & H – These moments below make my heart sing. Thank you for spending an evening with me and reminding me that what matters most isn’t where you are but who you are with. So happy to know you and I look forward to keeping in touch…
Lots of love,
Happy Monday! It’s a brand new week. A fresh start – and I have been looking forward to sharing this precious family with you guys.
The Lefeveres were one of the first families I ever photographed under my business. When I took their photos back in ’09, I so enjoyed getting to know them in the short amount of time I had with them. It’s wild how much all of us have grown over the last couple of years. Libby is the perfect big sister and such a sweetheart with Gigi. Gigi is a firecracker and has more personality than many adults combined which, I will argue until the end of time, is an amazing thing in a kiddo that age.
Oftentimes when photographing children, I’ve got to learn pretty quickly what makes them laugh and what it might take for them to warm up to me. Libby and Gigi are avid Justin Bieber fans and I say to you with no shame that we played some JB during our time together to warm Gigi up. We told her we’d tweet JB a photo so she’d better smile big. I think that it worked.
J, J, L & G – It is one of my favorite things ever when a family stays in touch. Your family holds a special place in my heart because you were there when I started this thing and you’re here now. That means more than I could say. Thank you for inviting me into your family for a short time once again. Can’t wait to watch the girls grow up!
Oh my stars! This couple and these photos make my heart soar.
I’ll never forget where I was when I got Kristen’s email – the one saying she and John wanted me to be their photographer. I was pulling away from a Starbucks and wasn’t having the greatest day which likely explains why I was at Starbucks to begin with. Kristen’s enthusiasm in her email made me grin and totally turned my day around. I remember exclamation points. Lots of them. Kristen’s love and excitement in her email are a direct reflection of her huge heart for life. I quickly saw Kristen’s sweet personality sparkle when we met and kept in touch. John, Kristen’s beau, is her perfect match. They compliment each other so well and are the kind of people you just want to have around always.
Kristen, John and I took these photos at Tuttle Orchards. I was a bit worried on my drive as the sky looked angry and threatened rain. In the end, I couldn’t have asked for greater weather! The sky was moody and the sun danced across the sky as the clouds opened and down poured the most beautiful light. On my drive home, I had to pinch myself. With every shoot I fall a little bit more in love with what I do. No couple, no family and no shoot is ever the same but that happens to be what I love most about this job.
K&J – I am so happy to call you two friends. When I think of you guys, I smile. You are real blessing in my life. I can’t wait to share your big day with you! Thank you for inviting me into your lives…
So much love and appreciation,
So happy to welcome this family back to my blog.
One of my most favorite things ever is when a family returns to have their photos taken with me. Or, in other words, I just love keeping up with clients. When you photograph families, it’s particularly fun because you get to see how the kids have grown. When I took photos of Danielle and her parents last year, Danielle was obviously younger but over this past year, this sweet girl has grown and is quite the lil lady now. Might I add, as a sidenote, that she has the most beautiful green eyes and long locks ever! Did I really just say locks? I would have loved long hair like hers at that age. Danielle is a total doll and her parents adore her.
J, A & D – I am still so happy we were able to catch up and make new photos. It amazes me the growth that has taken place in your family over the past year. Such an awesome time for you guys! Thank you for giving me the chance to do what I love. I appreciate it more than you know!
