My new friend, Scarlett, recently had her baby girl. Everlie is beyond precious and I had so much fun photographing this sweet family. I’m often asked if I do newborn photos and my answer is yes but never the ones where the baby isn’t being cuddled 🙂
I’m much more into the lifestyle route of newborn photography. Holding your new baby. Figuring it all out. That’s much more my style!
I was pretty much in love with this shoot in large part due to Scarlett and Jonathan’s serious decorating skills. This nursery?! Seriously? I’ve wanted to share these for a while but with busy season and wanting to get photos delivered in time for the holidays, it had to wait a bit longer. But I’m so glad now is the time. Please enjoy a few precious moments I had the honor of documenting of these beautiful people.
Let’s start with this photo, shall we? Ladies, is there anything hotter than a man holding a baby? I’m not sure there is.
One of my all time favorite family photos. Ever. In all the land.
Dear Jesus – please let me look like this days after giving birth. Amen.
Oh parenthood. You’re pretty cool.
Look. At. That. Popeye. Smile!!!!!!

Hi friends! Happy Monday! Wishing you all a productive week ahead. The smell of spring is in the air and I’m so excited for all that’s to come. I wanted to share a few of my favorite photos taken with my new film camera – the Pentax645nii. I bought this beauty from Japan a couple weeks ago (it came in LESS THAN 48 HOURS but that’s for a separate blog post, stay tuned!) and I’ve had so much fun getting to know the camera in all of it’s glory.
Val is a friend I met through my photo friend, Gail. I second shoot Val’s wedding a handful of years ago and it’s always a treat when that friendship extends past the wedding day – into each other’s personal lives. I’ve watched Val from afar grow her family from her and her husband to adding their little guy, Xavier, and now to their daughter who will be making her arrival soon. Love these precious moments and downright ECSTATIC to see what I’m going to capture with this camera this season. It’s gonna be nuts! In the very best way!
Film makes you slow wayyyy down, and appreciate any given moment for all that it offers.
Val has amazing style and is very good at curating in her life. She opens up a lot about minimalism online so if you’re into that sort of thing, definitely check her out on Instagram @valeriekeinsley and www.valeriekeinsley.com.
I do love this job.
(before the race on the left, and after on the right)
I was trying to figure out what number Indy Mini this was for me. I know my first was my senior year of high school and I’m pretty sure I ran this race every year in college. I think this time was my 8th time running this race? I’ve lost count. All I know is if I’m in Indy and I’m mobile, you will find me at this race. I love this race so much! OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon is the nation’s largest half marathon. This year close to 38,000 runners participated. I love walking to my corral in the morning and feeling all of that excitement and energy! Every year, when I go pick up my packet at the expo the day before the race, I always pull my bib number out and joke with my dad, “Oh so this is what the winning bib number looks like!” All joking aside, I actually had an AWESOME race this year. I felt strong the entire way through. At around mile 7 or 8, I’m usually looking ahead for that orange mile marker, willing it to come faster so that I can finish already. Not this year! I’ve been training twice a week with my trainer, Jaime, and I can definitely feel that all of the hard work is paying off. In the end, I earned a new personal best time. Heyo!
I’m just SO thankful for running. Seriously. It is my stress reliever. It keeps me in shape. Running is like a best friend I hang out with every week. I can rely on running to always make me feel better and honestly, it’s so easy to take that for granted.

I saw Iron Man 3 last week and whoah. Just, whoah. I have a huge crush on Tony Stark and I’m happy to report this movie did not disappoint. I actually bumped into my sweet couple, Lesley and Colin (and Lesley’s awesome dad Stanley), at the movie theatre and we were able to play catch up. While standing in line for concessions, I glanced back and saw Colin standing in line next to me. What I loved? When I walked up to him, we hugged and chatted like old friends. (I’m a hugger. You have been warned.) He explained it was Lesley’s birthday eve, that they had just moved into their new place and the three of them were out to see this new flick to help celebrate L’s bday.
This exchange is actually the perfect segway into what I wanted to touch upon here which is this:
Nothing makes me happier in this business than a client becoming a friend. When I work with you, this isn’t a one time exchange sort of thing. Actually, it’s just the first. (If I have any say in the matter…)
It all goes back to my core. As a friend, I’m invested in your story. I’m invested in you – your happiness and your future.
I’ve been shooting weddings on my own for long enough now that some of my past couples are starting to have babies. Just a few days ago, Lisa + Dustin welcomed a little boy into the world. And let me be biased for a second and say that these babies are cute! Real cute. Brian + Tori (remember that gorgeous, mint colored vintage car?!) had a beautiful boy recently and Jill + Austin are about to welcome a little girl into the world any minute now.
I’ve had a ball working on my collateral recently – crafting my packages to pack the most punch. I am so my mother’s daughter. I get so fired up thinking of ways I can give and spread cheer. This package? In total it probably cost $10. The onesie (ohh, the bow tie onesie) was $5 and I’ve got some of my favorite caramels stashed away in the pink chevron envelope for Lisa and Dustin to munch on while playing with their new little guy. It didn’t cost much but that isn’t the point. The point is showing that I care.
Planting seeds. It’s huge. The more you plant the richer your life will be. Promise! Now, go see Iron Man 3…..

I try my best to live each day with optimism and gratitude. I sincerely hope that translates in my work and in sharing my life here on this blog. We always have so much to be grateful for. In that same spirit and to help celebrate 365 days of chasin’ my dreams, I’m hosting a giveaway!

I appreciate you guys. Yes, I sure do!!
Ahh! This baby. Holy amazing and cute! And I don’t say that because I’m biased and have known Liz for many years.
Liz and I irish danced together for many, many years. For as long as I can remember I spent Wednesdays at dance class with her. Growing up, Liz was like a second sister to me. Even though I don’t see Liz nearly as often as I used to, we still manage to pick up right where we left off when we are lucky enough to see each other these days. When I found out she was pregnant, I think I squealed. It’s hard to remember for sure but a squeal from me when I’m excited is a safe bet ; ) I was so happy and excited to meet sweet William a couple weeks back and see Liz as a mama. Will is her first and I’ve got to say – he’s pretty darn perfect.
L, J & W – It’s too bad you don’t make a cute family. Clearly I am joking and so appreciate you know that already! : ) You guys have done an amazing job with your little man. I’m excited to watch him grow and be his favorite distant Aunt Caity! Thanks for having me over to document this happy time in your lives. I had so much fun!
Lots of loves!
That. Button. Nose.
OSCAR!!!! Oscar is a bit nutty but we love him anyway 🙂
I think Will looks a wee bit like Superman in this photo.
Happy evening, friends!
Happy Thursday! Whole lot of sweetness coming atcha today : )
Remember Adrianne & Michael? I took their maternity photos weeks ago. I loved getting to know them and seeing their excitement for their little guy to arrive. I just remember Adrianne saying more than a couple of times how excited she was to meet him. I always like to ask if the parents have decided on a name. Adrianne & Michael kept baby Allen’s name under wraps until he arrived.
Miles Hawk arrived a little over two weeks ago. He’s perfect. No, truly. Little button nose and squishy cheeks and lips. I was lucky enough to hold Miles and my heart melted as I squeaked near tiny Miles and introduced myself. Hi Miles! My name is Caitlin. You’re pretty perfect, ya know that?!
A, M & Baby M – You are the sweetest little family in town. I’m so happy for you all! Thank you for inviting me in at such a precious time in your lives. It really was an honor and I’m a better person because of you guys…
Lots of love,
Oh, baby Scarlett…
I was so excited to meet this sweet babe. I had photographed Martha and her twins, Stella & Fletcher, months ago and was in awe of Martha. She was very pregnant with Scarlett at the time and running around as we did our best to wrangle in her kids for photos. All the while, Martha had a sweet smile on her face and an awesome attitude. I left our time together with much anticipation to meet sweet baby Scarlett.
She arrived on December 1st making her the most precious early Christmas gift. She is so lovely. Her parents, Kurt & Martha, are so clearly smitten with her and it’s easy to understand why.
K, M & S – Thank you for inviting me into your home to capture Scarlett’s newness and the excitement in your family! It took us a little time to get these shots but I wouldn’t have had it any other way. I so enjoyed chatting and spending the afternoon with you guys. I look forward to watching Scarlett grow and shine along with her big brother and sister!
Much love and appreciation,
He’s here! Baby Aubrey has arrived!
Ever since I took Erin & Gary’s maternity photos months ago, I had quietly been counting down the days until their baby boy would make his debut. Erin & Gary make one handsome couple and I could only imagine what their little guy would look like…
I was so excited to meet sweet Aubrey. There were many people anxiously awaiting his arrival in October. I met him at just a couple of weeks old. Aubrey is beyond precious and such a happy little guy. I hardly heard a peep from him during our time together – just the adorable coo’s that accompany time spent with a newborn. I so loved seeing his nursery and photographing this sweet family in baby Aubrey’s first home. So much love and excitement packed in that room and I was so honored to be a part of it all.
E, G & A – Really, truly. I am over the moon for your family! Thank you for inviting me out to your home and giving me a chance to capture you all in your first few weeks as a family. Thanks for letting me hold Aubrey, too! That meant so much. Enjoy your little man over the holidays. What an amazing, beautiful time in your lives.
